Dorothy Parrot accepted the Lord into her life at a young age and vowed to be ‘a good girl,’ she was led by the Lord all her life-even when she was unaware of it. Later in life she became the mother of four and the wife of a struggling young farmer and God was leading her through it. Once her children were grown she followed her desire to be a better teacher and leader and to improve herself and she went back to school. She earned her bachelors degree and began teaching an adult education program.

In her local church she was given a license to preach and was a deaconess, She has been a church moderator  and a teacher for classes such as Decision to Discipleship and Evangelism Explosion.

She was used by God in the work of the General Conference  by serving as a representative to other national church bodies and she was a member of several different denominational committees and boards. She also served on General Council. She was also the General Conference President in 1982.
